About us
The scouts group "Les Aigles Rollingergund" are one of the largest scout groups in Luxembourg. We are affiliated to the FNEL, which is the national Association of the laic scouts. Our motivated and qualified leaders have organized activities for young people for over 75 years. Through adventures and using the scout spirit, the youths learn to respect Nature and comrades. Through the scouts they get to see a different picture of the world, one people sometimes forget.
The FNEL is the national federation of boy and girl scouts of Luxembourg. We are not affiliated with any religious groups and open to everyone. The FNEL is made up of 26 groups spread all over Luxembourg. The symbol of the FNEL is the "Fleur de lys". Scoutism is based on the original idea of Baden-Powel of Gillzell (a.k.a. B.P.) and since 1907 scoutism is the world's biggest youth-driven organization. The key idea behind scoutism is tolerance and the principle of making at least one person happy every day. More information can be found on the official webpage of the FNEL.
The different age groups
The cubs: The youngest in our group, between the ages of 9 and 11, or from the 3th to the 5th year of primary school, meet once a week in the old school in the Rolligergrund. A wide range of activities suited for their respective ages are organized by our facilitators. These range from outdoor activities to indoor games to creative workshops. On top of that there a several camps during a year. During there weekends or holidays the cubs learn to appreciate nature. They learn how to live in a group and how to respect and engage in community life. While playing games they learn to respect each another, they learn a sense of responsibility, respect and tolerance. Meetings take place most Saturdays afternoons from 14 to 15:30. For more information contact Anne (Hathi) Schackmann, 091743124, 291A, rue de Cessange,L-1321 Luxembourg or info@lesaigles.lu. The Scouts: from the 6th year primary school on. After having learned the basis of scoutism in the cubs, one becomes a Scout. The scouts get to know nature, constructions and cooking. They know how to handle a compass and a map, how to set up a tent and to live with nature. The scout group is split up in smaller groups, called "Patroull". In these smaller groups they start taking responsibilities. Our target is to "teach" them living in communities, teamwork, loyalty and reasonability, all of these in a social network were everyone cares bout each other. This way they will have the possibility to become themselves leaders one day! Meeting are held on Saturdays, 14 to 15.30 in our Home, 35, Val St.André. For more information contact Trixy Feider 291283/091738284, 10 rue Nic. Gredt, L-1641 Luxembourg or info@lesaigles.lu. Photos of the leader team and the activities can be found here.
After the Scouts, one automatically become a Explorer, and once you are 18 Rover. The most motivated become leaders on top of this and help organizing activities for the different age groups. Meetings are rarer because most members are following a higher education of some sort or have started working. Nevertheless if you are interested and want more information contact Benoît Thix, 449809 or info@lesaigles.lu. Photos of the Explorer/Rover leader team and of different activates can be found here.
